The name "International Euphorbia Society" (IES) was chosen as it describes in a brief format what the society represents. “International” because we already have members from 29 countries around the world, and articles in the journal also reflect the international cooperation which goes into the publication. The committee members themselves are spread over four European countries, so the society from top to bottom is truly international.
“Euphorbia Society” was a more difficult choice as the society was set up to further interest in and knowledge of all plants in the Euphorbiaceae not just in the genus Euphorbia. However the latter being the most widely recognised name, it seemed appropriate to use it in the society’s name. The title of the journal, Euphorbia World, therefore seemed also appropriate and differentiates the new journal from earlier publications.
